A Night in Paris raises funds for prom
Approximately 175 students danced the night away or
helped out in concession stands Friday night as the Activity Council of Travis sponsored a spring formal to begin raising
funds for future proms.
Balloons of red, black, white and silver created an archway into the commons, and Eiffel
Tower replicas helped set the theme.
Sponsors for the event were Duffy Lieber and Noelle Hodge.
Students who have not picked up the yearbooks they ordered earlier in the year should go by room E130 as soon as possible
to get their books, Dianne Smith, media adviser said.
Students must have their IDs in order to pick up their
books.
A few extras remain on sale, but are going fast, Dianne Smith, adviser said. These are $85 and must be paid
by cash or money order. No personal checks will be accepted.
Books not picked up by the time school is out will
be available in the office over the summer. Students must present their ID cards and must sign for the book, Smith said.
Don't know if you ordered a yearbook?
If you do not remember if you
ordered a book, Smart-Pay has some answers to your questions.
Parents from several schools have been calling Smart-Pay because they do not remember
if they ordered a book, or think they might have, but the book is not listed in the school's records.
A parent can check the website - http://www.smart-pay.com and select the tab that says order status - if they have an order ID or a customer number. The customer
number is assigned and on each letter that Smart-Pay mails out. So if the parent has the letter with the customer number
or a receipt with the order number, it can be looked up online.
If the parent doesn't have the customer number
or the order number, they can contact the Smart Pay Call Center. The number is 800-853-1337.
The Smart Pay Call Center will request the following information –
❑ School name
❑Student Name and Customer ID #
❑Parent Name
❑Phone Number
❑Credit/debit card (last 4-digits and Card type) or check number
❑Amount Paid
❑Date of transaction
❑Date check cleared or charge appeared on credit card statement

Math teacher Stephanie Williams was named Fort Bend ISD Secondary
Teacher of the Year at Thursday night's employee awards banquet. Williams was selected as the Travis teacher of the year
earlier this year.
Williams has been a teacher for 14 years, the last two at Travis.
For Williams, teaching is an opportunity to instruct, inspire
and empower students. She has been inspired by her grandparents and the many teachers who shaped her
life as she pursued her educational goals. It is her daily desire to teach students how to make learning
a lifetime experience. She especially wants to help her students to find a profession that is as rewarding
as the one she has found in being a teacher.
Arritta Lacy of Quail Valley Elementary was
named elementary teacher of the year.
Picture of the Week
It was induction week for new Thespian members, and the costumes were colorful.
Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make
it burn as brightly as possible before handing it onto future generations.
